But sometimes you think that if you think it, it's as if you have done it – so you banish the thoughts! But you still get annoyed and want to end things in your relationships when they become overwhelming or stressful. Stress hormones are decreased during dream sleep so you get to have a safer experience of previously frightening events and feel more in control of yourself.

- Write or audiotape the dream as if you are experiencing it as you speak, as soon as possible after you awake
- Even tiny fragments are useful
- Draw any visual images, signs and symbols that appear in the dream
- Note colors, shapes, smells, textures, noises, clothing, weather, places.
- Reflect on what the symbols mean to you and begin putting together a meaningful message based on what's going on in your life at the time, or what you have put off dealing with from the past.
